Stops to Make Along the Way to Roads End
Argyle Winery
An Oregon wine-making institution, Argyle became known for its delicious take on sparkling wine and now makes wine of many varietals. With their recent, significant expansion including extensive outdoor tasting space. Argyle makes for a sparkly stop on your way to the coast. Raise a glass to vacation!
Evergreen Aviation Museum
This is a stop the kiddos – and anyone else you know who loves aircraft – will really love. Most-loved exhibits include the Hughes H-4 Hercules(popularly known as the Spruce Goose) and more than fifty military and civilian aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), and spacecraft. The museum complex includes four main buildings: the original aviation exhibit hall, an IMAX theater, a second exhibit hall focused on space technology, and a water park (currently closed). You will spot those bigger-than-life aircraft easily from your route to the coast, along highway 18.
Main Street, McMinnville
Mainstreet McMinnville has been recognized as one of America’s Best Main Streets for a reason! The perfect mix of then and now, with cafes, gift shops, clothing stores, art galleries, and a couple charming hotels lining the street side. Things to Do in Roads End
The Knoll/God’s Thumb Hike
You will never forget the views and vistas from this beautiful Roads End excursion. Be sure to check the weather and hiking conditions before you head out on this popular out and back trail. The best conditions are from March until September (you may even be treated to wildflower blooms!) and your pups can join you but must be kept on leash. Locals promise you the view from the top is worth the trip!
SUP on Devil’s Lake
Just a few minutes down the road from Roads End beach sits another treasure of Lincoln City – beautiful Devil’s Lake. This calm and tranquil lake is home to lots of water activities – boating, water-skiing, jet skis, canoes and kayaks and Stand Up Paddle boards/SUPs. Safari Town Surf shop nearby offers great SUP rental packages and lessons on Devil’s Lake. Give this beloved and peaceful pastime a try when you visit Roads End.
Lincoln City Glass Center
Think it might be fun to make your own glass art? Lincoln City is a mecca for glass artists from all over the West Coast and anyone can try it via the extremely popular program available at Lincoln City Glass Center. You will be paired with a local glass blowing artist and expert and get to choose what you will make and the color palette. As your instructor safely guides you through the process, you will marvel at how you can go from novice to artist in one session! Make your own glass float or other work of art – and activity the whole family will love!

Barnacle Bill’s Seafood Market
A beloved Lincoln City Institution since 1949, Barnacle Bill’s is the place to go on the central coast for fresh seafood. This family-owned and friendly roadside annex is most famous for their delicious Oregon Dungeness crab, local salmon, and cult-favorite tuna…but we really love it all! A must-stop that will have the absolute best of what is in season on offer. Remember to bring cash (they do not take cards) and prepare to make one of the most delicious meals of your life after a stop at Barnacle Bill’s.
Blackfish Cafe
Another local favorite stop is Blackfish Cafe in Lincoln City. Open for lunch and dinner Wednesday to Sunday, Blackfish serves delicious local food farm and ocean to table – featuring fresh seafood, local produce, seasonal vegetables, meats, salads, and a choice of Northwest beach favorites. Delicious, straightforward food, a solid wine list, friendly service – and we cannot get enough of that local salmon Caesar salad!
Kyllo’s
Famous for their sunset dining, happy hour, and the fact that every table has an ocean view, Kyllo’s is also known for delicious food and drink – especially fresh seafood and salads, burgers and steaks and those hand-crafted cocktails (basil martini for the win!). We love the salmon kale Caesar salad, fresh crab, and shrimp cocktail…and we have soft spot for that famous burger too. Great food, friendly service, and incredible views, Kyllo’s is a crowd pleaser! My Petite Sweet
Their tag line is “Where Sugar Rules the Day!” and it certainly does. From cakes to cookies to pastries and cupcakes- you will find many ways to satisfy your sweet tooth at this beloved local bakery. There are also some savory options on offer, but we never get past the legendary cupcakes!
