Halloween is fun for the whole family on the Oregon Coast! From pumpkin patches to trick-or-treating at the local businesses in town to local events planned to celebrate the season (or to just get scared…. see Haunted House info below) there are lots of ways you can enjoy this spooky time of year. We have rounded up a list of activities (and one we can ONLY recommend if you are a grown-up and getting scared is your idea of fun). Wishing everyone a safe and Happy Halloween on the Oregon Coast!
Just up the road from Meredith Lodging Pacific City vacation rentals, is this magical Oregon Coast Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze. Open every weekend in October from 12–5 PM, October 4–5, 11–12, 18–19, and 25–26. The Haunted Maze will be held on October 25–26 from dusk until 10 PM. They’re dog-friendly and especially kid-friendly!
One of the top daytime Halloween traditions along the coast, the Kilchis River Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze (near Tillamook) is already listed in the Oregon Coast event calendar for 2025. This five-acre patch features a sprawling corn maze, pumpkin picking, and plenty of photo opportunities, all set against the gentle marshland and river backdrop that makes this part of the coast so magical.
Families can wander through the corn maze, pick a pumpkin (or ten), and enjoy light picnic snacks (bring your own or grab something nearby). For younger kids, smaller maze paths or “mini-mazes” are often available. The venue tends to run through October weekends, with hours usually midday to late afternoon. Combine pumpkin-patch afternoon with a sunset beach walk nearby, or stopping in Tillamook afterward for cheese and ice cream.
The coast towns often host charming, small-town Halloween parties for families, and Pacific City is no exception. In 2025, expect a Halloween bash at the Kiwanda Community Center or nearby gathering spots, complete with cake walks, “Go Fish,” bingo, prize giveaways, and treats. The event is traditionally held on October 31 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, a festive window before the trick-or-treat crowd arrives.
These events are perfect for families: little ones can arrive in costume, enjoy low-key games and contests, and socialize in a safe, warm environment.
For those whose Halloween style leans toward the spooky side, the Newport area often supports haunted-house events in late October. We suggest checking Oregon’s statewide Halloween event directories beforehand to find local listings via OregonHauntedHouses.com.
These haunted houses are usually open October 24–31, and require a waiver for entry, designed for thrill-seekers rather than little ones. Expect dark corridors, jump scares, costumed actors, theatrical sets, and immersive scares. a Reminder for readers: “This event is for adults and older teens only – not for young children or the easily spooked.” Also, we suggest dressing warmly and going earlier in the evening to avoid long lines.
When the sun sets over the Pacific, the Oregon Coast transforms into a playground for adults seeking spine-tingling fun and festive flair. Whether you’re donning a dazzling costume or just in it for the thrills, these Halloween parties promise a night to remember.
Chinook Winds Casino Resort is set to host its annual Halloween bash, featuring a costume contest with exciting prizes. Participants can register between 7:00 PM and 10:15 PM in front of the Bingo/Showroom doors. The winners will be announced at approximately 10:45 PM. Please note, this event is for guests aged 21 and over.
For those looking to extend the Halloween festivities, Zeller’s Riverside Bar & Grill in Otis offers a lively celebration with a costume contest, DJ/KJ entertainment, and more. This 21+ event is a perfect way to keep the spooky spirit alive.
A standout family option for 2025 is the Halloween Coast Train operated by the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad. This charming, family-oriented steam train ride runs from Rockaway Beach toward Garibaldi, decorated lightly for the season, and encourages riders to wear costumes.
Once the train is underway, there’s a treat stop in the “Neahkahnie Car” where kids in costume get to trick-or-treat onboard. There’s also an onboard costume contest, and complimentary apple cider for passengers. Because the route hugs the coastline, you’ll get ocean views, mellow fall ambiance, and a fun twist on Halloween that doesn’t rely solely on scares. This event is ideal for families with younger children who enjoy atmosphere and mild spookiness, rather than full haunted houses.
