Halloween Happenings in Seaside, Oregon (2025)

Seaside turns into one of the coast’s most festive Halloween hubs – a place where ocean breezes meet costumed fun, and community traditions come alive. From paddleboard witches to giant pumpkin drops and haunted hotel thrills, there’s something for every spooky taste. Below is a guide to the confirmed events (so far) plus suggestions to keep your Halloween weekend in Seaside magical. Halloween Happenin’s – Seaside’s Signature Two-Day Festival Dates: October 25 & 26, 2025 Seaside’s Halloween Happenin’s is the cornerstone of the town’s haunted fun. This two-day extravaganza features a full slate of activities suited for families, couples, and Halloween lovers alike. Haunted Hotel at Best Western Plus Ocean View Resort Date & Time: October 29, 2025 | 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Adding to Seaside’s Halloween lineup is the 1st Annual Haunted Hotel at the Best Western Plus Ocean View Resort. This indoor event turns parts of the hotel into haunted experiences, with rooms sponsored by local businesses. Guests are invited to “Trick-or-Treat the Halls,” explore a glow party and maze, and take part in themed fun inside the resort’s halls. Admission is free for all ages, making it a great complement to outdoor events. This event is perfect if you need a break from wind or rain, or if you’re seeking spooky fun in a cozy indoor setting. Traffic is lighter earlier in the evening, so plan to arrive before 5:00 PM to explore freely. Boos & Brews – The Times Theatre & Sisu Brewing Date: October 31, 2025 | 8:00 PM For those in the mood to party after dark, Boos & Brews delivers. Held at The Times Theatre in collaboration with Sisu Brewing, this event brings DJ sets, Halloween music, costume contests, and seasonal drink specials in a spooky, energetic venue. Entry is about $15, and costumes are encouraged. The vibe is lively yet accessible – a fun option for adults or older teens wanting to linger into the night. Because it’s indoor and ticketed, it’s a solid backup plan if coastal weather turns sour. Plus, it gives your guests something to look forward to after the daytime festivities. Fall Fun Fest – Family Carnival & Costume Contest Date: October 18, 2025 | 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Early in October, Seaside’s Fall Fun Fest hosted by Sunset Empire Parks & Recreation District offers a low-key, family-friendly kickoff to Halloween season. Expect carnival games, crafts, a cookie walk, and a neighborhood costume contest. It’s perfect for families wanting to show off their costumes early, especially if plans are hectic closer to Halloween. While not part of the main weekend events, this is a great warm-up: a chance to stretch costumes, meet locals, and get excited for Seaside’s bigger events later in the month.  Local Treat Trail, Downtown Décor & Spooky Walks While the big events anchor the weekend, much of the Halloween magic in Seaside happens in its walkable downtown, local shops, and spontaneous moments.  As the events calendar solidifies closer to fall, you can layer in smaller concerts, trick-or-treat events at local libraries, or audio ghost-story walks. A smart move is recommending guests check the Seaside Downtown Development Association site or Seaside’s event calendar for updates. Boo! Top Five Halloween Activities On The Oregon Coast

Halloween is fun for the whole family on the Oregon Coast! From pumpkin patches to trick-or-treating at the local businesses in town to local events planned to celebrate the season (or to just get scared…. see Haunted House info below) there are lots of ways you can enjoy this spooky time of year.  We have rounded up a list of activities (and one we can ONLY recommend if you are a grown-up and getting scared is your idea of fun).  Wishing everyone a safe and Happy Halloween on the Oregon Coast! Kimchi’s River Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze Just up the road from Meredith Lodging Pacific City vacation rentals, is this magical Oregon Coast Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze. Open every weekend in October from 12–5 PM, October 4–5, 11–12, 18–19, and 25–26. The Haunted Maze will be held on October 25–26 from dusk until 10 PM. They’re dog-friendly and especially kid-friendly! One of the top daytime Halloween traditions along the coast, the Kilchis River Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze (near Tillamook) is already listed in the Oregon Coast event calendar for 2025. This five-acre patch features a sprawling corn maze, pumpkin picking, and plenty of photo opportunities, all set against the gentle marshland and river backdrop that makes this part of the coast so magical. Families can wander through the corn maze, pick a pumpkin (or ten), and enjoy light picnic snacks (bring your own or grab something nearby). For younger kids, smaller maze paths or “mini-mazes” are often available. The venue tends to run through October weekends, with hours usually midday to late afternoon. Combine pumpkin-patch afternoon with a sunset beach walk nearby, or stopping in Tillamook afterward for cheese and ice cream. Children’s Halloween Party at the Kiwanda Community Center The coast towns often host charming, small-town Halloween parties for families, and Pacific City is no exception. In 2025, expect a Halloween bash at the Kiwanda Community Center or nearby gathering spots, complete with cake walks, “Go Fish,” bingo, prize giveaways, and treats. The event is traditionally held on October 31 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, a festive window before the trick-or-treat crowd arrives. These events are perfect for families: little ones can arrive in costume, enjoy low-key games and contests, and socialize in a safe, warm environment. Haunted House (Newport/Lincoln County area) For those whose Halloween style leans toward the spooky side, the Newport area often supports haunted-house events in late October. We suggest checking Oregon’s statewide Halloween event directories beforehand to find local listings via OregonHauntedHouses.com. These haunted houses are usually open October 24–31, and require a waiver for entry, designed for thrill-seekers rather than little ones. Expect dark corridors, jump scares, costumed actors, theatrical sets, and immersive scares. a Reminder for readers: “This event is for adults and older teens only – not for young children or the easily spooked.” Also, we suggest dressing warmly and going earlier in the evening to avoid long lines. Fright Night/Costume Parties (Beer Houses, Bars, Local Venues) When the sun sets over the Pacific, the Oregon Coast transforms into a playground for adults seeking spine-tingling fun and festive flair. Whether you’re donning a dazzling costume or just in it for the thrills, these Halloween parties promise a night to remember. Chinook Winds Casino Resort is set to host its annual Halloween bash, featuring a costume contest with exciting prizes. Participants can register between 7:00 PM and 10:15 PM in front of the Bingo/Showroom doors. The winners will be announced at approximately 10:45 PM. Please note, this event is for guests aged 21 and over. For those looking to extend the Halloween festivities, Zeller’s Riverside Bar & Grill in Otis offers a lively celebration with a costume contest, DJ/KJ entertainment, and more. This 21+ event is a perfect way to keep the spooky spirit alive. Halloween Coast Train – Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad A standout family option for 2025 is the Halloween Coast Train operated by the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad. This charming, family-oriented steam train ride runs from Rockaway Beach toward Garibaldi, decorated lightly for the season, and encourages riders to wear costumes. Once the train is underway, there’s a treat stop in the “Neahkahnie Car” where kids in costume get to trick-or-treat onboard. There’s also an onboard costume contest, and complimentary apple cider for passengers. Because the route hugs the coastline, you’ll get ocean views, mellow fall ambiance, and a fun twist on Halloween that doesn’t rely solely on scares. This event is ideal for families with younger children who enjoy atmosphere and mild spookiness, rather than full haunted houses. Best Hidden Beach Coves to Discover on the Oregon Coast

Hidden along the winding roads and forested headlands of the Oregon Coast are secret treasures – secluded beach coves where nature whispers, waves echo in sea caves, and solitude is the norm. While iconic spots like Cannon Beach and Newport draw the crowds, Oregon’s lesser-known coves offer a different kind of magic: unspoiled sands, vibrant tidepools, and cliff-framed panoramas you may have all to yourself. This guide to the best hidden beach coves on the Oregon Coast is built to help you plan your escape into these secret corners, from tide-timed wonders to photo-worthy shorelines. Whether you’re a coastal adventurer, a landscape photographer, or a curious traveler seeking serenity, these hidden beaches offer an unmatched, intimate experience with Oregon’s wild Pacific edge. Why Hidden Coves Are Oregon’s Coastal Treasures Hidden coves aren’t just about privacy, they’re about discovery. Oregon’s 363 miles of publicly accessible coastline are dotted with tiny alcoves, cliff-framed sands, and protected beaches that locals often keep under wraps. These coves are havens for coastal wildlife, from sea stars to seabirds, and offer natural features like sea stacks, blowholes, and driftwood-covered shores that change with the tide. Unlike crowded beaches, hidden coves allow visitors to immerse themselves in the primal beauty of the Oregon Coast. You won’t find snack shacks or crowds here. What you’ll find is quiet—a deep kind of quiet punctuated only by surf and seabreeze. These places are where memory meets magic, and where every visit feels like a personal secret. What to Expect: Scenic Views, Tide Pools, and Solitude Expect terrain that takes your breath away. From sweeping cliffs that drop into basalt-lined beaches to tidepools filled with starfish and anemones, Oregon’s hidden coves are sensory treasure troves. You’ll often be treated to fog-draped sea stacks, tunnel caves carved by centuries of waves, and dramatic sunsets with zero competition for the view. These spots are ideal for those seeking photo opportunities, spiritual retreat, or a quiet family picnic. However, because many hidden coves are accessed via unmarked trails or through wooded headlands, a sense of adventure (and good hiking shoes) is recommended. While some beaches offer ample sand and calm waters, others may be more rugged—perfect for exploring rather than swimming. How to Discover Oregon’s Hidden Coves Topographic Clues & Access Points Finding Oregon’s hidden beach coves starts with reading the landscape. Look for steep headlands, river outflows, and rock formations visible on satellite or terrain maps. Coastal topography often reveals where cliffs dip, streams meet the sea, or trails meander through forested ridges—clues that a hidden shoreline may lie below. Use tools like AllTrails, Google Earth, or Oregon Coast topo maps to identify these inlets. Words like “natural area,” “state recreation site,” or “viewpoint” often hint at nearby access routes. Most hidden coves require a short hike through forest or down steep paths, so use caution and verify elevation changes and trail conditions in advance. Some of the best-hidden access points are unsigned turnouts on Highway 101, forest service roads, or small trailheads near bluff-side vacation homes. When in doubt, look for driftwood markers or unpaved beach paths used by locals. Local Insight: Trails, Parking, and Seasonal Tips Locals are the true keepers of hidden beach secrets. Coffee shop baristas, bait shop owners, and trailhead hikers often know which coves are best for solitude, photography, or tidepooling. In towns like Yachats, Gold Beach, or Pacific City, don’t hesitate to ask for off-the-map advice. Parking is often limited or informal—expect small roadside lots or dirt pull-offs rather than designated parks. Arrive early, especially in summer, when even the least-known spots can draw a few cars. Seasonality matters. Winter storms may make access unsafe, while summer fog can shroud scenic views. Late spring and early fall tend to offer the best balance of accessibility, weather, and crowd-free exploration. Keep in mind that some coves (like Tunnel Beach) are only safe during specific tidal conditions. Tidal Timing & Safety Considerations Tide timing is critical when exploring hidden coves. Many are only accessible at low tide, and incoming tides can trap unaware visitors. Always check the daily NOAA tide tables for the beach you plan to visit, and aim to arrive at least one hour before low tide for the safest experience. Be cautious of slippery rocks, collapsing cliffs, and sneaker waves—especially near sea caves or narrow inlets. Bring waterproof hiking shoes with solid traction and avoid exploring alone if you’re unfamiliar with the terrain. Also, cell service is often limited. Download offline maps, tell someone your plans, and carry a flashlight or headlamp in case your return hike takes longer than expected. Safety and preparedness are what transform a risky detour into a magical discovery. Secluded Beaches & Coves by Region Southern Oregon Coast Secret Beach (Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor, Near Brookings) Secret Beach is one of the Oregon Coast’s most photogenic and elusive gems. Nestled between steep cliffs in the Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor, this secluded cove is accessed via an unmarked trail that begins near milepost 345 on Highway 101. As you descend through a lush coastal forest, the roar of crashing surf and the scent of salt air guide you to a hidden inlet framed by sea stacks, arches, and mist-laced headlands. This beach is a haven for nature photographers, thanks to its arching rock formations and glowing sunsets that often reflect off tidepools and wet sand. The beach is small but dramatic—ideal for those seeking solitude, intimacy, and raw coastal beauty. At low tide, you can explore sea caves and rock formations carved by centuries of Pacific storms. The hike is moderately steep and unmarked, so proper footwear, navigation apps, and tide awareness are essential. There are no facilities—just nature, wind, and ocean. It’s a place where Oregon’s wild character truly comes alive. Pro tip: Arrive just before golden hour on a clear day for unbeatable light. Early morning fog often creates ethereal compositions. Otter Point Beaches (Near Gold Beach) Just north of Gold Beach lies Otter Point

A Northwest Forest Pass or $5 day fee is required. Best vantage Stroll the Ray Atkeson Loop to a rocky peninsula on the north shore. It’s a 0.3-mile stroll to the beach or a 1.7-mile loop encircling the lake, perfect for families. Sunset playbook Circle counter-clockwise. Park steps from the shoreline and watch the sun melt into a sapphire lake bordered by firs. Logistics Thirty-two miles from Bend on Cascade Lakes Highway. The lake often turns to hammered bronze as the sun slips behind the western ridge. Glance north to catch the Three Sisters glowing. Imagine ending every day like this. Book a pet-friendly Elk Lake cottage through Meredith Lodging and keep sunset within arm’s reach. Tumalo Mountain – Classic Four-Mile Sunset Summit Experience A two-mile switchback climb gains 1,400 feet and rewards hikers with panoramic volcano views, without the marathon effort of a major peak. The Best Beaches on the Oregon Coast for a Summer 2025 Getaway

Summer 2025 is shaping up to be one of the best seasons in years for an Oregon Coast getaway. With long daylight hours, reliably mild temperatures, and an exciting slate of local events, the coast’s signature mix of rugged scenery and laid-back towns is calling. Whether you’re dreaming of tide-pool adventures with the kids, golden-hour photo shoots, mellow surfing sessions, or simply a sandy spot to unwind, these five beaches, spanning north, central, and south, belong on your itinerary. Pack the cooler, cue up a coastal road-trip playlist, and start planning now. (Insider tip: Meredith Lodging’s vacation homes place you close to each of these shores, so you can trade weekend traffic for wake-up-and-walk convenience.) Cannon Beach Few places capture the spirit of the Oregon Coast like Cannon Beach. Haystack Rock towers just offshore, tufted puffins nest on its ledges from late spring through July, and low-tide mornings unveil tide pools teeming with sea stars and anemones. Summer 2025 marks the 60th year of the town’s famous sandcastle contest, scheduled for early June, arrive a day early to see sculptors stake out their plots before crowds roll in. Beach access is easy from multiple downtown walkways, and new ADA-friendly mats installed near 2nd Street in 2024 make rolling a stroller or beach wheelchair simpler than ever. After an afternoon flying kites or searching for agates, stroll into town for artisan ice cream or a fresh-caught Dungeness crab roll. Ready for a front-row seat to Haystack Rock? Reserve a north-coast cottage through Meredith Lodging and watch sunset colors fill your living-room windows. Cape Kiwanda at Pacific City Looking for a little adventure with your beach day? Cape Kiwanda delivers. A colossal sandstone headland guards the south end of Pacific City’s main beach, and the dune climb, steep but mercifully short, earns you a sweeping 360-degree view. On clear evenings, the sun slides behind the offshore Haystack Rock (yes, Pacific City has its own), framing unforgettable photos. Summer adds extra thrills: surfers flock to the break, and traditional dory boats still launch straight from the sand at dawn. The Oregon Parks Department reopened the cape’s north-side tide-pool area this spring after reinforcing safety rails, so visitors can again explore the honey-colored rock terraces at low tide. When legs tire from dune-running, duck into the beachfront brewpub for a cold pale ale brewed on site, nothing tastes better after sandy cardio. Tip for families: Meredith Lodging offers several Pacific City homes with gear storage, outdoor showers, and walkable access to the dune, perfect for rinsing off after sand-sledding sessions. Cobble Beach, Yaquina Head If critter-spotting tops your wish list, head to Cobble Beach just north of Newport. Instead of soft sand, the shoreline here is covered in polished volcanic pebbles that rattle like marbles when waves recede, a soundtrack you won’t hear anywhere else. Plan your visit for a minus tide and prepare to kneel over pools brimming with purple sea urchins, emerald anemones, and shy hermit crabs. Perched above is Oregon’s tallest lighthouse, Yaquina Head Light (celebrating its 153rd birthday this year). Lighthouse tours resumed in 2024 after restoration work, and ranger-led tide-pool talks run daily in summer, perfect for curious kids. Keep an eye seaward for gray-whale spouts; the resident summer population often feeds just offshore. Crash course in marine biology by day, fireside s’mores by night? Book a central-coast retreat with Meredith Lodging and make Cobble Beach your living classroom. Bandon Beach Travelers venturing to the southern coast are rewarded with Bandon’s otherworldly landscape: sea stacks by the dozen, sculpted arches, and the storied Face Rock watching over it all. Photographers adore sunrise here, when rose-gold light wraps the formations, but summer sunsets can be equally spectacular, especially in late August when marine layers lift for crystal-clear evenings. Recent improvements to the bluff-top Coquille Point trail include new interpretive plaques on local seabird colonies and Indigenous history, making it worth a loop before descending the stairs to the sand. Low tide reveals tide pools around Wizard’s Hat and Elephant Rock, and you can often spot harbor seals hauled out on quieter rocks to the south. Downtown Bandon, five minutes away, hosts its annual Circles in the Sand labyrinth series on select summer mornings, an enchanting way to greet the day before exploring shops and cranberry bakeries. Need a base for whale watching, golfing, and gallery hopping? Browse Meredith Lodging’s growing Bandon portfolio and settle into coastal living south-coast style. Secret Beach, Samuel H. Boardman Corridor For travelers who crave a touch of wilderness, Secret Beach in the Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor feels like a private discovery. Reached by a short, sometimes muddy forest path, this pocket cove unveils teal water, pocket-sized waterfalls, and sea stacks capped with wind-bent evergreens. Arrive at mid-tide to roam the connecting coves yet beat the full-sun crowds that have found the spot on social media. The Oregon Department of Transportation completed parking-area widening in spring 2025, adding a vault toilet and better signage without spoiling the secluded feel. Still, facilities are minimal, pack out everything and watch the tide; this slice of paradise disappears under high surf. Late summer is ideal here: fog is less frequent, sunset angles line up behind the sea stacks, and daylight extends your exploring window. Patient visitors might glimpse migrating humpback whales offshore as August turns to September. (Adventure gear, trail maps, and a post-hike soak are easier when you’re staying nearby, Meredith Lodging’s Brookings and Gold Beach rentals have you covered.) Make Summer 2025 Your Coastal Season With new trail upgrades, returning festivals, and the promise of sun-drenched afternoons, the Oregon Coast is poised for an unforgettable Summer 2025. From Cannon Beach’s family-friendly boardwalk vibes to Secret Beach’s hidden-cove mystique, each shoreline on this list offers its own style of magic, so why choose just one? Plot a north-to-south road trip or pick a single town as your hub and day-trip along the waves. Whatever route you take, let Meredith Lodging be your home base. Our curated
