Soak in the scenic beauty as you ride past Haystack Rock along the old “Oregon Beach Highway.”  Pelican Brewing Co. Beach Party  After the beach ride on Saturday afternoon, head to Tolovana Beach for a lively beach party. Whether riding solo or with a team, participants will navigate the town while completing tasks at various locations to earn clues for the next checkpoint. Challenges range from mental puzzles to physical feats, ensuring a dynamic adventure fueled by speed, strategy, and teamwork. Whether racing against the clock individually or collaborating with a team, the goal remains the same – be the first to cross the finish line!  2:30-4:30pm – Fat Bike Beach Ride to Hug Point.   Meet at the Chamber of Commerce at 2:30pm for a guided 13-mile beach ride to Hug Point and back. Enjoy a scenic ride past Haystack Rock, along the old “Oregon Beach Highway,” and to the picturesque waterfall at Hug Point. Staff will be scattered throughout points on the ride to assure rider safety.  4:30-6:30pm – Beach Party and Fat Bike Olympics.   After the waterfall ride, riders will pedal straight to Tolovana Beach Recreation Site (on the beach in front of Mo’s Restaurant) for fat bike games, races, local brews by Pelican Brewing Co., snacks, and good times with new friends.   Sunday, May 19  12-2pm – Guided Mountain Bike Rides at Klootchy Creek Trails  Join members of the local bike club, Northwest Trail Association for a fun guided ride of the local mountain bike trail system. This ride is excellent on your acoustic fat bike or Class 1 e-bike. The local bike club maintains this system, but the trails are on private land, and the landowners do not allow any bikes that have a throttle. There will be options for intermediate to advanced-level riders. Download the maps from Trailforks to your mobile device. A free access permit from Nuveen Natural Capital is required. The Overlook Trail is an easy loop that takes you to a stunning viewpoint with panoramic views of the coastline.    Devil’s Punchbowl State Natural Area  This area, near Newport, has a short trail that leads to the Devil’s Punchbowl, a unique natural formation. It’s a great spot for tidepooling and enjoying the coastal scenery.    Cape Lookout Trail  Located in Cape Lookout State Park, this trail offers a scenic hike through the forest to the tip of Cape Lookout, providing spectacular views of the ocean. It’s a bit longer but can be adapted for family hikes.    Fort Stevens State Park  Fort Stevens, near Astoria, offers a variety of trails suitable for families. The Coffenbury Lake Trail is an easy loop around a lake, and the South Jetty Trail provides coastal views and opportunities for wildlife watching.    Short Sand Beach Trail   This short and easy trail in Oswald West State Park leads to Short Sand Beach, a beautiful cove surrounded by lush forest. It’s a great spot for picnics and playing in the sand.    Kilchis Point Reserve  This easy trail is suitable for families and offers a historical perspective along with scenic views. Cheers!  What Is the Bend Ale Trail?  Bend is known for its thriving craft beer scene, and the Bend Ale Trail allows visitors to explore the city’s numerous breweries.   During Bend Ale Trail Month, share pictures of your hop-tastic adventure on Instagram using the hashtag #bendaletrailmonth.
